How It Works
From First Call to First Insight in Under 3 Weeks
We handle the technology so you can focus on what you do best — farming.
We Map Your Farm Digitally
Before anything goes in the ground
Our agronomists analyze your operation using satellite imagery, soil survey data, historical yield maps, and your firsthand knowledge. We identify management zones — the areas of your farm that behave differently — and design a custom sensor placement plan that ensures complete coverage with the minimum number of sensors.
- Soil type mapping across your full acreage
- Historical yield variability analysis
- Field boundary and zone delineation
- Custom sensor placement plan with GPS coordinates
- Coverage simulation to verify no blind spots
One-Day Professional Installation
Minimal disruption to your operation
Our certified installation crew arrives with everything needed. Every sensor location is pre-loaded on their GPS-guided tablets. They install, test, and verify each sensor on-site. By the time they leave, your entire network is live and transmitting data to your dashboard.
- Certified 2–3 person crew handles everything
- GPS-guided placement for precision positioning
- Every sensor tested and verified on-site
- QR code registration links each sensor to its exact location
- Full coverage verification before crew departs
Simple Alerts & Recommendations
Data becomes decisions
Within hours of installation, you start receiving insights. Not raw data charts — clear, plain-language recommendations delivered via text, email, or the mobile app. Our decision engine analyzes your sensor data against weather forecasts, crop models, and regional benchmarks to tell you exactly what to do and when.
- SMS and email alerts for critical conditions
- Plain-language recommendations (not raw data)
- 24–72 hour forecasting for disease risk, nitrogen loss, and field access
- Mobile-first dashboard for quick field overview
- Seasonal ROI tracking so you see the payback
What You Actually Receive
Real Alerts. Plain Language. Actionable.
These are examples of the type of SMS and email alerts TerraVue USA delivers. No jargon, no dashboards to interpret — just clear guidance.
TerraVue USA: Tar spot risk HIGH in Field 7. Leaf wetness 9+ hrs at 68°F overnight. If no fungicide applied yet, spray within 24-48 hrs. VT-R2 window open now.
TerraVue USA: Field 3 saturated 36+ hrs after Tuesday rain. Estimated N loss: 10-15 lbs/acre. Consider rescue sidedress when trafficable. Pull LSNT to confirm.
TerraVue USA: Soil temp at 4" hit 50°F for 3 consecutive days in Fields 1, 2, 5 (Clarion loam). Planting window open. Fields 3, 4 still at 46°F — hold 2-3 more days.
TerraVue USA: Spray window OPEN in Fields 1-5. Wind 4 mph SW, no inversion, humidity 65%. Window closes ~11 AM as wind picks up to 12-15 mph. Prioritize Fields 3, 7 (tar spot risk).
TerraVue USA: Heavy rain forecast Thu-Fri (2.5"). Field 6 already at 85% saturation — expect 48-72 hr access delay. Fields 1, 5 (Clarion loam) trafficable 24 hrs sooner.
TerraVue USA: Corn GDD accumulation update — Fields 1-3 at 1,150 GDD (approaching VT). Black layer estimated Sept 18-22. On track for normal maturity.
Alert frequency, timing, and content adapt to your crop stage, weather patterns, and field conditions. Typical: 2-4 alerts per day during critical periods, fewer during quiet stretches.
Why TerraVue USA
This Isn't Another Ag-Tech Gadget
We built this system around one principle: if it creates work for the farmer, it's not a solution.
Install Once. No Maintenance. Ever.
Our hybrid power system combines a small solar cell, supercapacitor, and sealed energy reserve to deliver 10+ year maintenance-free operation. No battery swaps. No service calls. The solar panel is the size of a postage stamp — the electronics draw so little power that it produces 600x more than needed.
We Handle Everything
From farm mapping to installation to ongoing monitoring. If a sensor fails, we replace it. Your job is to farm — our job is to give you answers.
Decisions, Not Dashboards
We don't give you charts to interpret. We give you plain-language recommendations: 'Tar spot risk high — spray Field 3 today.' 'Soil saturated 36 hours — consider rescue N sidedress.' 'Soil temp hit 50°F — planting window open.'
Common Questions
How long does the whole process take from first call to live data?
Typically 2–3 weeks. The farm mapping and planning phase takes 1–2 weeks, and installation is completed in a single day. You receive live data within hours of installation.
Do I need to prepare my fields for installation?
No. Our crews install sensors between rows without disturbing crops. For pre-season installations, we just need field access. Sensors are designed to be installed around existing operations.
What happens if a sensor stops working?
Our system monitors every sensor 24/7. If a unit goes offline, we're notified immediately and dispatch a replacement — usually within 48 hours. Your subscription includes all hardware maintenance and replacement at no extra cost.
Do I need internet or cell service in my fields?
No. Sensors communicate via long-range LoRa radio to our solar-powered gateways, which handle cellular connectivity. The gateways include dual-carrier failover and work even in areas with marginal cell coverage.
What if I add or change fields?
We'll update your sensor plan and install additional units as needed. Your subscription scales with your operation, and we can typically add coverage within 1–2 weeks.
Does this work for rainfed farms? We don't irrigate.
Absolutely — soil moisture monitoring is just as valuable for rainfed operations. Tracking soil saturation helps with nitrogen management (knowing when denitrification is occurring), planting timing, field trafficability after rain events, cover crop termination decisions, and tile drainage performance. TerraVue USA is designed specifically for central Iowa rainfed corn/soy operations.
Can your sensors help with tar spot decisions?
Yes — leaf wetness duration plus temperature data powers disease risk models for tar spot, gray leaf spot, and other foliar diseases. Tar spot develops rapidly in cool, humid conditions (prolonged leaf wetness at 60–70°F). Our system monitors these conditions field-by-field and alerts you when risk is elevated, so you can time your fungicide application for maximum effectiveness rather than spraying on a calendar.
